I have a 92 190 with the 2.5 diesel. Does anyone know if the thing under the inlet manifold with the pipes going into it is a fuel heater. I want to know coz I am running it on waste veg oil.

Your Mercedes
BMW 525 Diesel Touring
Under the inlet manifold

That'll be the injection pump... Run it on veggy oil if you like but be aware that at this time of year it'll tend to solidify in the system. Best to dilute it with "real" diesel and use a greater percentage of veggy in the summer

Some systems have heaters & systems to deal with this. Never tried it myself

I had a closer look at it today. Its separate from the injector pump and has 2 small coolant hoses going to it from the cylinder head. It doesn't get hot however, not even warm really. Can the thermostat be taken out so it gives full heat at all times?

You don’t have to remove the thermostat, just by pass the thermostat.
Remove fuel pipes from thermostat fit the pipe coming from the pre filter
To one end of heater pipe going to the cylinder head and the other pipe coming from the cylinder head fit it to the lift pump.

Do you mean run the fuel in the pipes to and from the cylinder head?
