I've just bought a petrol 2.0 Merc ( been talking about it for years and now I've done it!)

I'm thinking of having this 155K mileage car gas converted but I'm just spending the first month checking everything is OK with the engine first.

I think it's OK - I'm not technical at all but there are no obvious problems ... I did notice the other morning a slight shudder when I lifted my foot off at about 70 mph. Any thoughts? I'm also not used to rear-wheel drive - might be a prop shaft thing??

There has been much talk on here about gas conversions, the general concensus of opinion seems to be against.

Heed the words of Lord Elcome, ive heard more good than bad to be honest, so i would leave it as is.

As for the shudder, does it do it all the time?

Thanks Dave and Matt,

to answer your question Matt, I think I'm just getting used to the car - it goes really well and the shudder only happened memorably on one occasion after I'd done a fair few miles at about 70mph - i lifted my foot off and i suppose the engine was kind of adjusting itself - it felt as if it might want to conk out but it didn't.

since then it gets 50 miles each day and I'm getting used to its sounds etc. As I've just bought it I'm going to get a full service done.

Thanks to you for your input.
