Almost all new cars once you take it home it has lost money, but in 1986 if you was lucky enough to buy a 124model 250d or 300d you could ask and get £2000 more than you had paid for it, today you can buy a nice 124/250d/300d and 190 for £1200. Hope this helps

Well said Brian. You can buy a lot of car for £1200. The most you can lose is £1200 - and you probably won't lose that as the car will always have some value.

Properly nurtured (and used), your asset may well gain in value, but not hugely. So we buy them because we love them and we enjoy them. I admire those who keep cars in concourse condition, but mine are working cars, which they enjoy, so they never get that level of detailed attention - but they do go well.

I'm sure if you're patient you'll find a good example within budget, with none of the issues mentioned in the description, which would have cost over £500 to correct I would have thought.
Keep checking ebay and the small adds in local press, there's plenty around and limited buyers for this type of car makes it a good time to buy.

I think the offer of £1200 was about the right price.

£1200.....was a good offer,for a run of the mill 190....

this was and is an excellent example of the merc 190..and £1800-£2000 was the right asking price..and from the interest that was generated... shows that you merc guys may be selling a little short...

the brother in law won a watch in this one.....

if it went to scrappage,i would have been so disappointed .

lexington....your offer was greatly appreciated and was thought on long and hard, but in the end a few words from son to father won him the car.....families eh?

Golf, I appreciate that, thanks. May look for a slighter newer W202 if a good one comes along. Cheers.
