Hi all,
I want to replace my combo switch and the Haynes manual description of steering wheel removal seems very straight forward. Disbale and remove airbag, mark wheel position, undo wheel retaining nut/bolt ensuring you have a new one to install on refitting. Does the wheel slide right off or am I going to need a steering wheel puller/crowbar/champion weightlifter?
Cheers, Geoff.

if you have managed the air bag part of it and the nut is of,all you need to do is pull the steering wheel off,,apply some pressure to the rear...

you will need a 10mm allen key socket to remove the bolt [it will be tight].

Then the wheel will just lift off.

Remember to leave the screw on the last 2 threads so you can give the wheel a good tug if its tight and it won't come off and hit you in the face.
To refit you can put a bit of thread lock on but I've had my wheel on and off loads of times with no thread lock and it hasn't come loose yet.

i agree a touch tread lock is not absolutely needed, but if you need to do anything in the vicinity of the clocks the wheel has to come off

The steering wheel doesn’t need to be removed to remove the binnacle

Hi all,
Thanks for the advice so far.
Does the steering wheel retaining nut loosen clockwise or anti-clockwise?
There seems to be some confusion on the US 190Rev forum about this.
Also can anyone suggest where I can get a 10mm allen key socket ? I have all the other tools required.
Thanks, Geoff.

The bolt loosens anti clockwise and you can get the Allen key socket from Halfords or a hardware shop
