hello, have a 1986 2ltr 190e very reliable car. when warm will not change into top gear and jumps out of other gears, works ok when cold ive checked oil levels oil doesnt smell burnt, anyone with any ideas.

From what you say, I take it you have a manual box. If this is the case it is likely the selectors are worn in your box. These are the lads that move and then keep the correct gears meshed together for a particular selection. In your case they sound worn, so that when the gbox comes under load, they can't hold it in gear and so they pop out - into neutral.
If you hold your hand on the gearstick, put the box under a bit of pressure and you will feel it forcing its way out of gear.
