A recent strange electric issue has developed with my car. When the ignition is turned off the radio resets itself as if the battery had been disconnected. Also the time clock on the instrument panel has stopped working. I noticed that first. The clock has been on again for 20 mins since it went capute.

I put a new battery in about ten days ago and the fault developed a few days after but I thought it was just the clock that had stopped. Incidently, the clock stopped working after I turned the ignition off after a long drive and seemed to have stopped when I arrived at the destination as I could remember the time when I got there.

Are both the radio and the clock on the same circuit or fuse?
Anybody know what is causing the faults?
Car is running great otherwise.

Turns out the front interior light and boot light is off too, so I think it is a fuse, which I haven't checked yet.

Your radio main feed is on the same line as cigar lighter etc,it is on a fuse in main box, I try and think of what could blow it, bulbs can and do go short circuit. close the boot and doors before you change fuse, that helps to elliminate causes.

Turns out it was a fuse, number 13. The fuse looked ok but was either slightly dislodged or worn or something. Anyhow problem solved. Read Haynes manual circuits which helped. Glad the radio puzzle sorted and lights and clock are working again.

Looking at the fuse,it tells you a lot.
As in this case and looks OK but is faulty, I pass those off as a fuse failure.
When you can see a small gap in the fuse link,I would eccept as overload
When its black and big piece missing or burnt, Something has blown it,dead short.
