The fuel pump relay appears to have failed on my 190E 2.5, and I'm looking for a replacement but not having much luck so far. Current part number is 002 545 72 05.

Does anyone have one available, or know where I might be able to try? Alternatively, can I fit a different relay part number on this car, or does it have to be that specific part number?

Thanks in advance.

Have you bridged out pins 7 and 8 in the socket, as the car should run to test that the relay is faulty,,it will run all of the time in this mode.

Have you opened up the relay to look inside

Yeah have done that and the fuel pump seems to run fine at this point. The relay seems pretty well sealed, but I'll take another look and see if I can open it up.

Smart + others :)
remove the cover and check the main relay on pcb, 90% of the time the solder joint breaks where the relay is attached to pcb.

I have checked the relay,,most soldering was 100% but I have re done many,,and cleaned the contacts on the relays.

All you can do now is to try it.

Thanks for the work Malcolm. Sounds like the fuel pump is priming correctly now so seems like it's done the job!

Only trouble now is starting. It's taking a while to turn over, and it sounds like it's beginning to fire (like it really really wants to, but can't quite manage it!). Do you think there's anything else I should look at, or is patience all I need now?!
