The (throttle mounted) idle microswitch doesn't seem to make a difference. The switch seems to work but the voltage across the switch is approx 5v and the voltage between the switch live feed and earth is 8v.

This must mean something ... I'm just not sure what!. Can anyone help please?

Thanks Andy. This could still be the problem though as its when you take your foot off the accelerator (eg to brake) that the revs fall below 500 and the engine nearly cuts out ... Or could it be something else...!!
