Hi there. I have a 1989 190e with a m102 2l 8v engine and want something a bit for nippy. I want this car to modify so it handles great as well as being pretty fast so I thought a good engine for this would be the m111 over the m104 as I am worried about the weight over the front. Has anyone done this swap and is there anything to take note of. I am a steel fabricator and welder so the metal work is no problem. Any info or tips would be great thanks you.

No idea on the M111 but the M103/104 is not an easy update due to the cross member. On 4 cylinder cars the crossmember is welded in and different to the 6 cylinder cars (where the crossmember is bolted in).

I'd imagine the biggest issue with the M111 will be all the computer gubbins.

Fitting a 111 seems like alot of effort for little gain, and the 102 is smoother than the 111.

I agree. Why not turbo or supercharge the 102 you have in there? Additional fuel can be dealt with by use of a piggy back and additional injector, or you could replace the current mechanical injection system with a standalone if your Jetronic is not working well.
