Wd40!!!

Copious amounts of WD40 on the running gear will free it... open the sunroof an inch or two if you can and then spray via the straw onto the rails along the sides of the sunroof, the mechanism at the front (above the handle) by poking the straw in to the recess that appears... Wind the sunroof shut and then retry opening...It will prob be stiff so cranking it open a little more than before and repeating the procedure may see it through...

anything but WD40!!!!!

use a light oil/grease on the runners gradually moving the roof a bit further each time until the whole mechanism moves freely.

Try not to force anything

True!

WD40 would help free it but grease is the way forward...and backwards...and then forwards...!!! :)

WD40 is one of the best ways to free parts,,after it is free use some spray grease on the runners.
