I have a 114K 190E which has oil leaking from around the rocker cover, and the oil filler. Spark plug 1 was slightly oily, spark plug 3 was very badly oiled, with a solid grey/black build-up all over the elctrodes. Occassionally I get a puff of blue smoke from the back, but no pattern to it. It is not noticably using oil, although I haven't done a long trip for a while. Changing spark plug 3 for a new one fixed my cold starting problem I'd been having.
Friends at work tell me that the valve stem seals have gone, or that the pistons rings are worn.
Any advice as to how to diagnose this problem?
I did a simple compression test and all cyclinders read 200psi (ie at the top of the green on the gauge), although I recognise that this was not a cyclinder leakage test.
Thanks
