190E Window problems

Hi,

Was wondering if I could get some advice to try and rectify a couple of problems with my automatic 92 model 190E.

1 - Electric windows will only work if either of the front doors are open.

2 - Every now and then the engine will run really rough when trying to accelerate. Seams to be worse when it is under load ie. transmission is engaged. It has stalled a couple of times and is then hard to start. If I opperate the accelerator at the linkage on the manifold the engine seams to run fine and will then be good for a while. This is an intermittent problem that seams to be getting worse.

If anyone could help me with these problems it would be greatly appreciated.

Item 146 is the OVP relay, this is the biggest reason to make the car run intermitantly rough. they get dry joints inside, take it off and re flow all of the soldering.

The front windows can be powered without the ignition switched on if you open the door - you'll see a plunger in the A frame, so it sounds like someone might have done a 'job' badly or there is a faulty wire/s maybe touching somewhere. Yes thats just a guess!

190E Running Rough

Thanks for responding to my original post mike65 and television. I finally had the chance to do some work on my car yesterday.

I managed to find and repair a wiring fault with the power windows, which now has them working fine.

Unfortunately the engine is still intermitantly running bad. I re flowed the solder joints of the OVP relay as sugested, but it has not made a difference.

The engin starts and runs great from cold even after a good drive to reach operating temperature. I stop and restart, and there is no throttle responce, runs rough and wants to stall. The next time I start it is very hard to start and hesitates a bit while cranking like the timing is too far advanced. It will then idle really high and will not come down or iddles really low. I shut it down again and restart, and it runs fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may cause this type of problem?

190 e window problems

I had a very strange window problem as yours. the windows would only work when the doors was open. in the fuse box was a missing relay. as soon as i replaced the relay in the fuse box the windows now work with the doors shut...at last..
