1965 230s Engine Over-revving

I have a problem of the engine over-revving whenever I accelerate to heavily in my 1965 MB 230s (W111.010).

The problem gets progressively worse the hotter the engine is and the longer I drive for. From a cold start it is not as pronounced as it is if the engine has been running for a while.

I lose power (particularly on hills and even very small inclines) and have to change right down into second gear to get some more torque.

Would this be a clutch problem, a symptom of an engine that requires re-conditioning, or just the reality of an old car engine?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sounds as if the clutch is need of replacement (assuming that it is manual) to me.

Sounds like clutch? Do you have a workshop manual? I think its Kenneth Ball did those ones. If you are stuck I think I have one, could photocopy.
