Hey Guys, I'm new to the forum... primarily for help on a project I have coming up. :)

I work for a company that owns a 207d as a marketing rig, and the stock motor just blew... in the desert... 450mi. away.

So, rumor has it that we can put a OM617 in there with minimal work from a 80-85 300sd or 300td which is a much more reliable engine.

Does anyone have any experience with this particular swap? I'm trying to gather as much information as possible so that we minimize all the extra expense and most mistakes along the way.

Any input would be appreciated, Thanks!

What's in it now, a OM615?

I'm pretty sure...

It's a stock 616.

I believe it's the original 616.

I can't imagine it will be hard, it's the same engine +1 cylinder. No more or less reliable. But i don't suspect anyone on here will have had that vehicle and done that swap! So info from experience will probably be limited, if in existence at all!

The 616 and 617 are of equal, high reliability.

Putting a 617 in a 207 van - is there adequate clearance for the extra cly?

I worked at a place some time ago where we did this swap ,the trans had to be moved back 150 mm and.... it went as fast as the four cyl going down hill. :D engine. A better choice would be a OM 606 turbo .
