1981 380sl will not come of choke

Just got the old girl out of storage

When she starts now instead of going on choke for a few seconds its staying on choke reving at 1500 rpm and will not come of even when engine is warm

Is there a sensor i need to look at or can anybody give me any ideas

someone has suggested that i clean the idle air valve can someone tell me were the hell i find that.....complete novice here

When you say it is running on choke, is there black smoke coming fron exhaust.

no not at all, no black smoke, what i mean is if you look at the carb float when it should be ticking over the carb float is open by about 6 mm

I think that you mean butterfly is open (you cant see the float, that's for fuel leval) but this will still be a choke related fault as this increases the engine speed when cold, if you have an automatic choke this will have ceased somewhere, I will see if I have any info.
