hello all

new to this forum and after some advice if i may.

my dad has a 230e y reg sitting on his drive, its been sitting now since 1999 and has not moved since, we have had the engine running and apart froma few problems the car is fine

problems we have come across is,

1 - exhaust center and back box have gone and need replacing,
2 - the petrol hose from pump to tank IIRC has gone
3 - the passenger rear door has come apart due to rust at the bottom of the door
4 - the breaks will prob be locked up from where its been sitting.

now one how much is this car going to be worth after having all the work done and getting it runnign again.

or is it not worth doing and just weigh it in for the metal value???

Cheers

Welcome to the forum, the first thing you need to do is to check for any rust that can fail the MOT, when a car sits for 8 years, the water does not get a chance to dry out, if the chassis and structural parts are sound, the rest is easy

If its got rust issues then I wouldn't bother as it will be worth about £500 max with a full yrs MOT. Much less than that without MOT. Possibly worth more as spares (even it its a shame to break them as getting rarer by the day).

Even the excellent ones don't fetch much as buyers prefer the estate and coupe models. The saloon, despite being a great car, doesn't attract many people.

The above holds unless your car has something of particular value, such as low miles and no previous owners, leather interior, a/c, full history and original invoice, etc.
