1988 300ce oil filler cap

Ok, i have been a bit stupid, left my filler cap on the engine, shut the bonnet and drove off... now it is missing. I have checked my route to work, but not found the cap, i have also checked my local scrap heap, and spare parts place but they have no spares. I am new to the area (Swansea, Wales) and dont know anywhere to go for help, does anyone here know of anywhere that could help me...

Hello mate.

Do you have a Mercedes dealer near you? A new cap is only about a fiver. Or you could try GSF of europarts online if you don't have a store near you.

And just a quick thought, have you checked if its fallen down onto the engine under tray? It might just be hiding down there.

thanks, i've checked and there is a gsf car parts place within walking distance of my house, funny you never realize places like that exsit untill you need them, i shall pop arround before work tommorow and see if they have any. in your experence do they normally have small items like that in stock? Thanks for you quick reply, feel so stupid leaving the cap off!!! and yes, i spent all afternoon getting my hand covered in muck looking arround the engine bay for the cap, no luck )

Yes they should have one in stock. They even double up as fuel caps!!! Same item IIRC. :-o
