HELLO ALL ! My name is KEN and I have not compose in this bord for long time so please forgive me for the obstacle questions.
I have a 1990 560SEL Shiped form Japan 2 years ago. Currently I am driving this car in U.S.A. This 560SEL is very rare form the US people, sence it is a euro spec. The Problem I have now is I have not able operate this car for 2 years ! just sitting at one please for very long time. There is a long story behind this car. In U.S. there is a requirement to all the car form foreign country, and must be convert to U.S. spec. To convert the car, I must use a Regester Importer to do the work for me. Unluckly I had to deal with most nasty people in the world to to the work (regester Importer). The owner of the RI agentcy was very dishonest that he try to swindle me with all the lie he made up with my car. He try to rip me off by selling a un need it parts for convergent. They told me DOT and EPA test were denial witch I cheked with DOT and EPA office my self and thery did not even tern in the paper work untill 2nd year of this hole situation. deal was to finsh up the car by the 2nd month of the arrival. (year and 10 month late) anyway that's little backround of my 560SEL.
I finaly got the car back 2 years latter with unstart engine. I sent the car to the local garage and troubleshoot the hole car and they found out that 2 of the fule pomp are unworking form bad gass (old gass). so I replace the 2 fule pomp and the car started. So now I am able to drive this car !! but few problem still. my gass tank gage is not reading the correct amount of gass so I have to feel her up every 50 miles or so.... Also the A/C has some truble form the 2 year period. seems like the air vacuum is not working right. There is no air coming out form the front air vent, instead there is alot of air coming form window diff vent. my rear air vent works very good so its cooler to sit in back seat. There is so many problem with this car that I don't even now what to do..... My passager power seat is not working at all, and most important, my reverse light comes on when I press the brake??? looks like when the people converting the car put the lights back wrong. They did a very bad job puting back all the parts so that alots of place does not work. My rear sun shade do not work too.... there is too much to list in one time....... I just don't now were to start with..... It will be very helpful if you can give me a advice or any comments it will be most helpful to me. Thank you very much for reading my long story !!
I hope I can make some frinds who is intellignet in the MB's Thanks !!

Ken-san,

Sorry to hear your story. I would consider sueing that garage that did the work.

Reversing Light:

You will need to check the wiring in your rear light cluster to see which wires or bulbs have been crossed.

Fuel Gauge:

Perhaps the "sender" (level transducer) in the tank has become stuck after sitting idle for so long. Probably the access is through a panel below the rear seat and you will need to remove the existing sender and move it to see if it works or replace it. Not expensive.
If this is not the cause, it could be that you have a small crack in the dash circuit-board where the fuel gauge is. This is often simple to repair. Was the instrument dash removed for the conversion work???

Is the fuel gauge not reading at all or is it stuck at some level or does it only work within a small band??

Air Conditioning:

Seems that you problem is the mechanism that controls the airflow through the vents. The system may also need re-gassing to get colder air. However, I think that for the central vent there is a valve mechanism that allows you to choose between warm or cold air (blue/red switch) and it may be stuck on the warm setting. This could be either a simple or big job, depending on whether you need to dismantle the dash to get access to it.

Electric Seat:

Could be many things, but if there is no power at all, check the fuses first.

I think that you will either need to find a good, friendly mechanic, experienced on foreign (German) cars or get yourself some (Bentley/ Haynes) manuals on this carb (or similar model), if you want to try yourself. It is easy to give ideas of what the problems may be, but actually finding the real cause and doing the work is a lot harder.

Good luck !

Arnold.
