1990 SL 300 Convertible Top

I am new as you know and my manual HAS STILL NOT come in the mail. When you put the top down does the car have to be NOT RUNNING and witch way do you push the button (To the front of the car or do you pull it back) Also i need to know how to put it back down . Does it take awhile for it to start working Thanks In advance

I raise/lower mine with the engine ticking over - kinder to the battery.

Switch lights up when you press it to the rear for down, or forward for up.

You must hold the switch in that position continuously until the action is completed.

There is a pause initially, then after a few seconds quite a sharp crack as the hood is realeased at the top of the windscreen. Then it proceeds from there.

Try that and see how you go.
