My manual 1993 190D has developed an annoying clutch problem, at low speeds in car parks etc when selecting 1st or reverse, the clutch pedal sometimes sticks and stays depressed and you can't get it out of gear unless you reach down wth your hand and pull back the pedal. Also the clutch bites very early and the gearchange is a bit jerky. Finally, sometmes you can fully depress the clutch and the car still creeps forward!

Do i need a new clutch or slave cylinder or what?

Great forum btw.

Hi
How much pressure do you have to apply to pull back the clutch pedal?

Hi, it is pretty easy to pull back the pedal, I either reach down with my hand or use my foot.

I will try and get a quote for the slave cylinder and see what they say about the master cylinder.

I hope this will cure the problem and it will not be too expensive!

Thanks for the advice.

Smart + others :)
just replace the master cyl because that'll be the fault, unless the slave shows signs of leaking. bit of a back ache to do, its easy to bleed the master.

Took the car to the garage and they replaced the slave with no improvement, now they are going to replace the master cylinder so hopefully that will do it. Check out my car on EBAY item no. 230172383873
