I've never had a remote fob with this car, only had it a month, and it runs really well, but the locking sort of bust!!! I cannot lock or unlock the drivers door with the key, whereas I could before. The cent. lock. works perfectly when I use the boot lock or passenger door lock and also the inside switch, so can be secured, but so annoying that I cannot use drivers door. Should I have a fob? Is it much of a job to repair drivers door lock? If I should have a fob, where can i get one without having to go to a main dealer?

Your problem with your driver's door lock is probably the roll pin which holds the operating spade to the outer lock has dropped out ,they slacken with wear.
Open the door and pull back the inner door seal level with the outer lock, you will see a hole behind the seal, the allen screw which locates the outer lock can be unscrewed through the hole.Once the screw has been remove pull the outer lock rearwards and it will unclip from the door,if I am correct the operating spade will be loose on the inside of the lock so be careful not to drop it inside the door or you will have to dismantle the door to recover it.
A suitable split pin can be used to reattach the spade to the outer lock and, as they say assembly is the reverse of dismantling.
Sorry I can't help about the alarm fob, but it would probably be cheaper and easier to fit an aftermarket system with central locking facility.

fob problem

hi
i had such a problem when i dropped the keys, the car locked it self and cud not open with the remote so i used the passegers door or the boot which was so strange to on lookers, and i went to the main dealer who quoted me to replace the key with new fob abt £150 each and only done in germany. i knew it was a loose wire in side it so i took it to the redio repairs who said they dont work on such things and refaired me to the watch repairs who had no clue what i was talking abt. i dicided to crack it open only to find the botton inside had come off, so i took it to the radio repairs to have it sodared for only £5 and the remote was working again. i can guide you on how to crack it open and save you so money. good luck
