Hi folks i have a couple of questions
mercedes benz c180 1995 uk spec

1. can you program another m/b ir key to open the doors and turn off the immobiliser? "oblong key type"
2. can you fit a remote start unit and if so how?
3. is the system passive ie: walk away and the doors are open but the immobiliser kicks in after 30 seconds

Cheers Dan

  1. You cannot program another MB key, once programmed set for life
  2. Yes you could fit a remote starter, may have legal issues though as you cannot leave a car running on public highway. Why not try a Kenlowe Hot Start system, (electri heating element which fits into a water hose). If you still want a remote starter try US or Canadian sites as they are popular there
  3. Not sure on your but later ones if you unlock the doors but do not open one then they will re-lock after 45-60secs. The immobiliser is linked to the key being in the ignition so even though doors open immobiliser still on

Hi Blobcat
Thanks for the reply sorry i have taken so long to get back to you as i have been a busy boy

1. Thought that just needed someone to confirm it :D
2. In the UK you can get a cat 1 Clifford with remote start which is insurance approved but i was wondering how to bypass the Mercedes immobiliser system so i can fit one myself and if the immobiliser works of the key them how can i get around this :!:
3. I will try and see if mines does the same as the later types and report back

If yours has an MB alarm on it , (look for a siren under bonnet), it will passive arm without ignition on (doesnt lock though) This passive arming can be dissarmed at home with about 10minutes work.
