Hello,
check engine light is on............car does not idle fast at cold, wants to idle as if warm. Idle fluctuates when warm and in neutral. Any ideas?

I replaced coolant temperature sensor, but issue remains, whats next?

Looking at the age and model of your Merc does make me think "Wiring Harness", especially if the check engine light has come on.......is your car still on its original harness?

You may or may not be aware that the E320's +280's from 1993 to 1995 had a engine wiring harness wrapped up in a bio degradable insulation material. The problem for Mercedes was that the insulation started to bio degrade too early. This results in the wiring shorting out and the classic symptom is if the engine check light keep's coming on. You may also find that you get other random electrical problems.

Best thing to do is to take it into your local dealer and get them to check the wiring harness and read the codes being thrown up by the ECU....this should point you in the right direction and tell you whether its a harness problem or some other problem.

Hi

Before going down the wiring harness route. Have the fault codes read. If nothing in the engine ECU. Then try clean the throttle actuator. Dont replace wiring harness unless its be correctly diagnosed.
