Hi all, just joined this website as I have recently purchased the above Merc and am really pleased with it...its only got 104k on the clock so is brand new as far as I'm concerned!

I'm hoping that someone could help me out with wheels - I'm not a boy racer at all but wouldn't mind giving it a bit of a sportier look and figured putting some alloys on in place of the 15 inch steelies would be a good way to give the car a bit of a change in appearance. I'll be on ebay looking for merc wheels and am aware that the offset means certain wheels are compatible. Just wondered if anyone had a list of what will be acceptable?

Also in terms of wheel diameter - the 15 in wheels that are on have quite large profile tyres...whats the max wheel diameter I could go to with a lower profile tyre? ie would a 17 inch wheel be ok with 45 profile tyres?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

Charlie

Thanks, that site looks to have a lot of in depth info...

I've seen these on ebay and wondered if anyone might be able to confirm their suitability -

Original AMG Mercedes Wheels fitted with Continental Sport Contact 2 Tyres

2 x 8 by 18 front wheels with 245 40 18 tyres 4/5mm tread remaining

2 x 9 by 18 rear wheels with 265 35 18 tyres 6/7mm tread remaining

Wheels are in excellent condition with no dinks.

Tyres have even distribution of tread and no wall damage.

Also seen these...

Really nice set of 4 Rial Design DE 17" Alloys complete with good (Approx 5mm) Michelin Pilot Primacy 225/45 R17 W's. ET35

Took them off my Mercedes CLK

Anyone know whether they'd be fine to put straight on? The first set are an inch wider on the rear set...and they're 18 inch diameter which may cause a problem!!

Don't forget when working out what will fit in terms of diameter / width that the offset it very critical;)
