1996 E220 Cabrio - fuel leaking

I have petrol leaking on my E220 - it's underneath the car, near the fuel tank. It drips out when the car is started, but does not appear to leak when the engine is off. Also, it does seem to stop after 5-10 minutes, when the engine is hot.

I'm not very technically minded, but just wondering if this is a known fault of cars this age and how serious this could be (i.e. how expensive to fix!). I live in the Watford (WD17) area and having just moved here and bought a Merc for the first time, am looking for any recommendations on nearby specialists who can do this sort of work.

Thanks, in advance.

Thanks, Ian. Where are the fuel pump connections? Is this something I can do fairly easily or do I need to take a mechanic?

Dead easy mate. Support the rear of your car on axle stands and crawl under it. On the drivers side just in front of the rear half shaft is a plastic cover. Remove it (4 / 5 10mm nuts, plastic). You will see the fuel pack in all its glory. Just look for signs of leakage by the smaller of the two cylindrical objects (thats the fuel pump) it also has 2 wires going to it. The other cylindrical object is the fuel filter. There is also another smaller object under there too. Thats an accumulator

Hmmm ... I've got the day off tomorrow, so I might pop down to Halfords and buy some axle stands and have a lookie.
Thanks for the advice.
