Hi

The interior of my 97 SLK 230 is beginning to look tired. The light grey coating applied to the interior door panels and handles, the centre cubby box and around the ignition switch is beginning to wear off in places. Anyone else got this problem? Can i re-colour it or touch it up? I know car is 10 years old and done 100k miles but I would like to improve it without replacing all the interior (or the car!!)

Cheers

Ours is the same, poor quality in my view, had it touched up sometiime ago and that made it look worse. might consider get it all covered in leather.

I recently bought an Slk and had the same problems with paint peeling in centre console and around ignition,

I got some paint from here http://stores.ebay.com/VOLICO-de costs around £20 inc postage But first you will need to find the exact colour you need so just click on this link http://old.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/?lng=engtype in your vin number and it will give you the correct colour match for your car.

I found it a perfect match covers up well and dries quickly.

My 99 SLK has the same issue, have looked at the german paint on ebay, have not gone done that route yet, as I think the panels will need to be removed from the car to do a proper job. There are companies that will do this work, not sure re price / quality.

Is it possible to apply this by brush? (the non aerosol product)

ebay item 200329016623 - it does say to use spray equipment. I only have small areas to touch up, so spraying would be overkill

Cheers

Most of these product can be applied by hand with a swab, and dabbing it on.
