1998 CLK 320 Alarm Problem

When I arm the alarm it immediately sets the alarm off (both horn sounding and indicator lights flashing). I am having to secure the car by locking with the key. Can anyone advise of what could be causing this problem.

have you tried locking it with the interior motion sensors and tow away sensor disabled? this is done by pressing the top and bottom of the switch before locking - check with the handbook if unsure.

if it still sounds after they have been turned off then the siren is next guess, but at this stage it would be better to have diagnosis carried out by a specialist than to just change parts on the basis of guess work.

The chances are that the siren is at fault,,you could disconnect it and see
