I have a 1999 E280 with a stuck bonnet latch. The inside latch pops the bonnet open a bit on the driver's side, but when I pull the lever in the grill nothing happens. I tried pushing down on bonnet while pulling the tab, but still no success. I even tried to pull the latch with a bit of wire, but it seems there is something holding down the passenger side of the bonnet. I would appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks!

I believe that you have double catches, one each side, no easy answer other than doing it from under the car. Have you tried closing again or pushing the bonnet at the bottom to one side other the other

As Malcome says you have 2 bonnet catches, one each side, one thing that may help to realease the offending catch is to get someone to push down on the side that will not realease while you pull the bonnet realease lever in the car, pull the lever to its maximum without straining it and while you hold it get your assistant to try and lift the bonnet.

Still no luck

I have tried this method but it just won't budge. Is there a way to release it manually, i.e. any way to reach under the bonnet with a wire to pull the catch? I don't even know exactly where the other catch is and since I can't open the bonnet, can't see the other one
