1999 E320 air con problem

can anyone help, i have taken advice from a couple of people on this site ( very good advice as well) on how to check for error codes on the air con unit, having followed all the procedures, i have erased the error codes and lo and behold the air con worked, however after about two minutes the air con switched itself off again, and displayed an error code again, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I guess it depends on what the error code was. If the aircon switched off it was probably protecting something in the system from damage.
