1999 Sl500 (r129)

Have recently purchased and confused as to performance etc. as different figures quoted in different articles.
Can anyone advise as to 0-62mph, top speed etc.?

Plus - How do you guys get pics of your cars on your threads?

0-62.5mph 6.5s

Fuel economy 15.8 / 33.5 / 23.7
CO2 emissions 300g / km

0-100 mph 14.0s (Evo Tested)

Top speed is limited to 155mph - it can acheive that in 4th so a theoretical top speed is around 176mph.

The figures that stats007 gave are the same for the new SL500 up to 06 06
the new 5.5 liter engine knocked another ½ sec off.

The R230 Malcolm mentions is slightly quicker having a lower kerb weight but sharing the same engine and gearbox in it's earlier years.

129 SL500 1999 on 1890kg
230 SL500 2003 1845kg
230 SL500 06 2006 1910kg

I weighed mine yesterday with me in it and a full tank as I did OK on the lottery and it was 1888, I weigh 82kg so my car has lost weight, can I get a rebate on the tax.
