My 1999 SLK 2.3 W170 Barabus has no left or right indicators lighting, the hazards are working normally..
I have looked and most people seem to have indicators on all the time and not like mine where they are not lighting at all.
I have tested for 12v on the indicator stalk and get nothing at pin 4 which according to the wiring diagram comes from the hazard switch which I have changed.
If I supply pin 4 with constant 12v the indicators work in both positions but don’t flash due to there not being a variable 0-12v to make them flash.
Just woundering if anyone else has had this problem.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Just a thought, probably totally wrong, but could it be an earth problem? We have had 3 W170 SLK's and Just sold our W171 and now gone for a smart car, as now in our late 60's, a bit low to get in and out of. lol. Another separate thought, nothing to do with this, but if you haven't, keep an eye on the PSE pump in the boot as they fill with water and the circuit board goes. We had the wires extended on ours so that it could be put upside down to prevent this. Bit of a stupid design, putting it in a foam rubber box.

I have decided to fit a new flasher relay and use this input to the centre contact on the indicator stalk which should get the indicators working again. I might find the real fault in the future when I have more time.

Finally found it it when I moved fuse 12 in the side of dash fuse box the indicators work both sides.
Had a look inside the fuse box/ headlamp switch module and there’s a flexi pcb so it looks like this is either damaged or has a dry joint. Looks like a lot of work to get to it so I’ll change the whole fuse box/ headlamp module as I can get a used one for £45. Hope this might help someone else.
