The owner has sais that" there is a rattle of some kind under the bonett" and he believes that this may be a tensioner ? what do you think ?
Also the dash display at the bottom is not working is this fixable?

It could be the belt tensioner as they do wear out, most instrument clusters can be fixed.

The body and rust are the things to look out for on a 210 and a good body is worth a lot

i have an e300 td not a 320 cdi. yes i bought it coz it was cheap at the time coz the wheeelarches etc were a little ropey but its a great car to drive and i love it despite its faults! only thing i regret is that i couldnt afford a 320 cdi when i bought mine, and still cant!

Hi Lacedr,

I'd get a quote for the rattle and dash before parting with much cash if it were me.

Having spent a small fortune on the bodywork of my 1999 E300TD I'd say be realistic about it. You only need to peruse this forum to read all the bodywork criticicms of 210s. If you're happy to keep on top of the rust then it's a fine beast - comfortable, fairly economical for a big car and quite cheap to have serviced outside of the main dealer network.

May I be so rude as to ask how much is being asked for the aforementioned motor?
