I'd say its not done it any good bit hopefully no harm. I'd get the oil changed again in the 1000miles and take it from there

Cars before something like 2001 did not have a magnet but these should be added if you do not have one.

Very hard to know what any bits are, but I think it will be just fine, did they empty the box completely including the converter

They said they let it drain overnight, they also changed the filter, sump pan gasket and oil.

So the converter may not have been emptied, that holds almost 4 litres

Something not right here, the converter cannot drain on its own, how could they know how much was in it

Was the work done by an MB specialist ? They may not know of the need to drain the torque convertor as well or how to do it ?
