hi guys, i bought a clk 320 around a month ago and im really happy with it just got 2 questions..1 it has a auto/tip box with a w/s setting, should i be in w or s for normal driving??? i always thought that w = winter s = sport but according to my handbook s= standard so which will be the best for mpg? 2 the only thing that dosent work is the multi-function steering wheel, if i pull the lever nothing happens, i did notice on the service history that it had a new indicator stalk due to a fault so would it be possible that they didnt connect the multi-function steering lever up correctly when fitting the indicator stalk?? also is this a diy job to fix??? many thanks spencer

W winter S standard, try the same route to work and see what difference it makes, it should give better mpg on W.

Sounds about right for the s/wheel, best get it to an indie for them to look at, you have an airbag!!! so best not to mess about unless you know what to do.

I use S all the time on CLK 270 CDI, because it goes great on that setting. If I ever change to W, I'm disappointed within a couple of roundabouts so I switch back to S for another year!

W will mean that you'll pull away in 2nd and it'll change up sooner.
S is better for fast driving.

I believe the W / S is related to how the car changes gear. In Winter mode the car will generally be in a higher gear to reduce the likelihood of losing traction with the drive wheels. In standard mode you'll get a bit more power as the car is more likely to stay in a lower gear giving more torque.

S/w

Had the same thoughts when I got my CLK 320.

I would suggest running in S mode unless their is snow on the road.

The Merc CLK isn't bad in the snow but depends on how much tread/chain/winter tyre is on those big size wheels...traction/ESP is v.good.

Remember the gear box adapts to your style of driving to a degree.
