2000 clk 230 key fob & central locking problem

Hi guys,

I've got some problems with my 2000 clk, please help!!

Firstly there is only 1 key and the key fob is not working. I took it to a merc specialist and apparently its not sending out any signal, the red light doesn't come on. They quoted 200 for a new one. Im just wondering if theres any way of repairing the key?
Also the boot light keeps staying on and the windows keep going down a few inches even after they go all the way up. I had to pull the plug in the boot so they don't go down and hence no central locking.

Please help, im quite tired of opening the door with the key blade... Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

With the windows, if they are too tight in the tracks they will drop as they think that something is trapped. lubricate the runners with Silicon or PTFE and that will help. when you have done that turn the key to key2 and close the windows and hold the switch in the up mode and hold it for 10 seconds

With the key it is possible sometimes to fix them, I offer the service from time to time but no guarantee. have you tried new batteries

I don't think that's the problem with the windows, because now that I have unplugged the wire from the boot, the windows do go up all the way without coming down, but because of the unplugged wire, central locking is not working along with rear head rests... I am really confused.

It would be great appreciated if you can help me to look at the key. But since I only have 1 key... I'm based in Brighton, if you are near I would love to take it to you. Or else I can try to leave the car for a few days and send you the key..?
