Hi all,

During the last new days I noticed that when I started up our E200K from cold, it would idle rough for a few seconds and then return to normal.

This evening when I started up, it ran noticeably rougher and the check engine light came on straight away. It never went out, nor did the idling smooth out.

The car was also more sluggish pulling away from lights.

The RPMs seem to be around 700-800. I don't hear any different sounds (ie tappets), nor is there any smoke.

Recently the idler, tensioner and belts were changed.

Any stabs in the dark as to what it could be?

An update to this problem... last night after I got in, about two hours later, I went out and started her up again. Fired up right away, no lumpy idle, same power as always.

Same thing this morning as well. The CEL is still on, but I suppose that will need to be cleared by the garage.

Though the MAF is not part of the idle circuit,,when faulty they can cause problems with idle,,unplug the thing and see if it different

Thanks for the suggestion. If it acts up again this evening I'll unplug it and see what happens.

Okay... it was the coil pack. Cylinder 4 was misfiring, the garage diagnosed it as a dodgy coil pack.
