Window in the back drivers side has just came off the track yesterday due to a potholes here in Los Angeles. I can hear the motor wind up and down as I press the button, but the glass just sits there.

Is there a way to get it back on track without taking the whole panel off? Or if I do have to panel off, what about the side air bags??

Really need help so I can secure my car in Hollywood!!

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The car has a VIN number or class of car in the passenger side on front window,,202 or 203.

I can then send you the details of how to take off the panels

In the absence of info on a W203, this link is for a W202, yours will work in a similar way but will look slightly different as your car is much later.
Either the cable has snapped or the “white plastic square”, as described in picture “G” has come loose as Sam has suggested.

As your problem is urgent you need to remove the door card and effect a repair, if a repair isn’t possible then you will have to get the window back up and securely wedge the glass shut with 1 or 2 wooden batons cut to size and placed them under the window glass.
This will keep it secure and derivable until you get the fault fixed.

There is no need to put the door card back on the car if you are going to be working on the fault on another day but you MUST reattach item “5” in picture “B” otherwise the courtesy light will stay on and cause problems with the alarm.

Don’t know much about the air bags but I believe that the are fixed to the door and not the door card but am not sure about that.

WOW! That is really awesome but a little overwhelming at first glance!

I got the glass up and it apparantly has sort of caught the track because it stays up now...it wont really go down on cue but again, it will go up. I will keep at it.

SINCE YOU ARE THE MAN!! I got another one for you.

Everytime I turn my car on, there is this tapping sound behind the dash board sounding like a real fast Morse Code. I hear it may be some kind of Air Conditioner mechanism that has locking device that is like stripped or worn out.

It goes off after about 30 seconds everytime, and has been doing this for about 3 weeks now. The air conditioner still works and cools, but what is it really and what can I expect?

thanks Dr Mercedes!!

It dose look a little complex at first glance, it is only when the mechanism is in front of you that it all makes sense. Have you actually taken the door card off yet?

No, I’m not the man, there is another man but I’m not him, I wouldn’t have a clue as to the answer to most of the questions on here, just the things that I have direct experience with.

The tapping noise could be a lug that that broken off one of the air flaps, you could try a re set

http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=36147

The tapping didn't go away...I was excited when the LED's started to blink, and I tried it a couple of times trying to make sure I got the timing correct on the ways you said.

It makes sense that it would be something to do with the AIR SYSTEM. Like I said, the guy said it was some kind of part that "locks" together that is ground away, and would cost about $1500.00 to fix. Well, this sound is SO systematic like a repetitive morse code tapping sound. It makes no sense that it would be something like a moving part would sound like, and logic tells me otherwise too.

Anything else here to do???

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, my man is "upstairs"!!

Well, I haven't taken the time to take the door card off yet... Come to think of it, what is the door card? The door panel?

Will have to do it on another Saturday...but what is the easiest way to go about this?

I have sent you details of remove both door cards.

Re the broken flap it is a dashboard out job to fix this, hence the price

I really thank you for the email regarding the door cards.

So with the noise in the dash, would it be possible for this to stop maybe if I keep on trying the method of pushing the defrost and circulating air buttons?

I just don't want to put that kind of money into it, as I am getting it as good as possible for a trade in.

Which will be my next agenda for you...

I'm looking to jump up in a 350 series... your thoughts? New or Used???

Yes there should be one position where the motor will stop trying to re set, I have no idea what setting though

This morning I tried again. This time ONE defrost button and Circ Air...and it worked!!! Instead of BOTH defrost buttons and Circ Air...

IS this what you were referring to above?

My hopes are that this is permanent and wont happen again. Will let you know what happens after I get home from work!

Thanks SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!
