The vehicle in question is a 2001 C class 2.0 kommpressor.

I recently submitted a thread in regards to oil contamination in the MAF and that i was informed that oil was getting into it via a wiring loom. After repeated resets of the engine management light the indy garage i am using has advised me that it could be a number of issues as the diagnostics can not pin point a particular fault. He has stated that the engine has a design vault, which was not rectified by merc on a recall, in other words they pulled the same stunt as Landrover did with the 1.8 k series engine in the freelander.
Can anyone substansiate this for me and is there a fix that has been worked out? Any help would be much appreciated.

If it is oil in the loom then a full harness is needed, only cure!!!

The harness has been replaced and relevent work in that area completed, ie MAF replaced, loom replaced, source of oil contamination caped.
