Hi to all on site,
Got a problem with my 2001 E55 Amg.

Had two new tyres fitted on my car and developed a slight rumble through the car between 40 mph and 60 mph. Have had wheels balenced at several different places and can get better or worse. It is always worse when the vehicle is cold but after 10-15 miles this gets better and the rumble is only slightly there. I have just had new discs but doesnt seem to have solved it.
Would be very grateful if anyone has experienced this or solved it.
Many thanks.

P.S Its currently at 74k

I've developed a rumble on mine - I think it's suspension bushes on mine, not sure about yours though is there any play in them.

If it only happened after having the new tyres fitted then I would suspect one of the tyres has a run out or balancing problem, is it possible to use the spare and try each tyre in turn to check this..

Another thing to look for is a mishaped tyre. Had this on the Merc with a buldge right in the middle of the tread.

Hi E55, Don't know if you are into diy or not but if you are then you could try swopping the front tyres with the back and see what happens. Take it you are running low profiles and the fact that it is worse when tyres are cold (and cosequently tyres have flat spots and accentuate unbalance), then sounds like an imbalance in the wheel/tyre.

Always remember that bushes or worn suspension parts can never start a rumble or shake at say over 40 MPH its always bad tyres or balancing, the effect of worn components will make it worse, but will never start it in the first place

front and back wheels may be different sizes.
