Hi,
I have been searching the forum for about 30 mins and couldn't find a definitive answer to this question so I hope there isn't a problem with me asking.
I have read about checking hoses, needles in the jets and muck in the washer reservoir.
The passenger side washer jets on the wifes SLK are very weak and I am expecting that the hose may be loose or has come off. I opened the bonnet quickly yesterday and I couldn't easily identify where the hoses were to check...it appears they may be behind a cover that is secured with torx screws or something...
I haven't done much work on the SLK before so could anybody point me in the right direction to get to the hoses / remove the jets...
The car failed the MOT because of it yesterday and I need to get it back there today otherwise I don't get the free retest....
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Tim

So the long plastic piece with the torx screws securing it in place?

Many Thanks...Just waiting for the wife to go to work in my car and can then get the car in the garage to work on (Its absolutely chucking it down here)
Thanks again

The washer jet clips to the long plastic piece but its a pig connecting the tube with out removing the grill, I think you might have to remove the windscreen wipers as well.

Remember also you can open the bonnet to 90 degrees by pushing the button on the back of the bonnet stay at the top to give you more room.

How nice that you remember a tip like that:D, many do not know that it is possible to put the bonnet vertical, but a feature of all MB's

Ignore that - I found it but still would like to know how to get the wipers off the bolts after removing the nuts....

Thanks..there seems to be wires in the hose aswell..is that for heating the jets or something...its only the Left hand jet which is a problem which is at the end of the run...****** hard working under there without getting the wipers off though and then the plastic grill...Can't understand why I can't get the wipers off though? Anyone any ideas on how to?
Thanks
Tim

Wiper arms are usually just on a splined shaft with the nut holding them on. I have found in the past that they can corrode in place, making them difficult to remove though.

Can you not lever them up very gently with a large open ended spanner for example as I've done it like that before.

I'm not near my SLK at the moment otherwise I'd go and have a look for you to see what can be done.

Many Thanks Andy...I had a close inspection with a torch and they do appear to be on a simple spline but I can't manage to pull them up...Now that I have spotted it and you have confirmed it I will try levering them as you suggest so many thanks for the tip..I wanted to make sure there was a trick that I was missing so thanks again.

It helps when removing the blades to lift the arm off the screen, this will allow you to rock it on the spline, as wiltsandy said , then a spanner to ease it off while rocking it

If it looks like its not coming use a soft wood drift as close as possible to the spindle. I have a special puller purchased for this job as its very common and they can be tight..

Good luck and be careful.
