All, just thought Id post a few pics of my now beautiful 2001 W210 which I picked up from the bodyshop this morning after a week of rust repairs.

She had rust in the usual places, all round all 4 arches, couple of scabs on the doors, round by the headlights and just above the front bumper.

Im so pleased with the results, she looks almost brand new! The body shop put 2 new front wings on, waxoiled and stonechiped underneath before puting on the arch liners, they repaired the rear arches and reapaired all scabs on the doors and car park dents, repaired the front bumper (where I scrapped the nearside corner on a wall) treated the rear arches underneath in the wheel well, they then painted both sides up to the roof rail bits, the whole front bumper and machine polished the rest of the car, oh yeah and they also corrected the headlights as they had gone cloudy.

She looks lovely in her new outfit!

Doesnt she look pretty!

Just got to sort the wheels out now! The work was carried out at Chappell Coachworks in West Kingsdown (I am not linked to them in anyway) but heard of them through word of mouth, really impressed with them, they couldnt do enough, The manager Luke, such a nice fella, over the moon with their work.

Thanks

Looks great!

Second one out of the bodyshop this week, well worth doing in my opinion, they are good cars.

At this rate we'll have to start a 210 club:)

Thanks eman, they had to put some adhesive under that piece as It kept lifting slightly, I did think about get a new piece but didnt.

I have removed it now......the car seems slower without it!:):):):)

You do double my mileage. When you say base, do you mean the metal frame or the cushion part? Expensive?

As someone else said...we should have a 210 restoration club. Your cars look well.

as above, it does look lovely.. my W210 had a similar amount of work...

then a few months later ( I reckon out of spite ! ) decided to spider the paintwork in the middle of the roof ! MIDDLE ! nothing had marked the paint..

after spending a lot, I had to get rid...

But, I must admit, a shiny looking W210 does bring back some good memories... done a good tow to glasto' once !

Keep it dry & it'll be fine

Aye, I had mine done professionally due to rust all 4 door bottoms, and 4 archs; I couldn't fault the finish. It reared it's head within 12 months.

I am thinking about getting it done again by Clive when I have the funds as he offers a 5yr warranty due to his method.

Hi Toby, its the cushion part thats had it, the offside (righthand side) bolster has broken away from the base. Dont get me wrong its still comfortable but needs doing.

I bought a new cushion from MB £80 I think from Germany. Just need to find someone to swap it over or do it myself if I pluck up the courage!

Once you get started doing this it all falls into place, just that first bit of courage I do have some info on doing it

Hi Taz, my plan will be to try and get about 2 years out of it, longer if poss but we will see, then ill change it for a w211 320 cdi sport, hopefully post 2007 so as to stay away from the SBC issues or a E55 Komp if im being completely stupid!

I'm impressed it's still available to buy!
