2002 ML270 Key re-sync

Looking at that picture this morning its a Xtal I think. A cap would not break up.

It is possible that I have touched it when prising the fob open with a small screwdriver.. I dont remember doing but that doesn't mean I didn't.

If it is a Xtal, it will be fractured, it is to lock the reference oscillator.

Just buy a key from Ebay and transfer it and you will be fine.

TV, or anyone who knows can you ID the part from these pics? I know the pics are the USA version of the key but the component looks the same.

It is the numbers on the Xtal that matter, the USA uses a different frequency to us as far as I know. You just cannot fit anyone, I cannot read the numbers on the USA one.

If anyone on here has an ML, would they be brave enough to open the key to read the number.

Well today I recieved the key from eBay. First of all I tried just putting my chip in the new ebay fob and trying to resync that. Nope that didn't work. So, I de soldered the damaged part and replaced it with the ebay one and......... Still nothing. Sooo frustrating!

Sorry, no. When I say "chip" I meant the Xtal thing that was damaged.

Was it polarity marked for what way round, maybe a copper track is open circuit.

No, I drew an arrow on it though to make sure I put it the right way around.

It still seems to be something down to you, shame you only have one key or I could check it.

There must be something that I have missed. Whether it be in the re-sync procedure or something I have missed in the key fob, I'll check again in the morning. There could be a way of sending you the board and the old shell case, but I'd need to keep the new case & immobiliser chip to run the car. I don't need the board as it's doing nothing at the min other than sitting in its case.
