Central locking and soft close boot working intermittently. Have tried usual removal of PSE pump, unit seems dry, checked and replaced fuses etc. If I unplug and reconnect the PSE pump I can get the system to work for a few days, and then fails again. Replacement pump time? I don't really want to risk the cost of the pump if it may be some other cause. Thanks guys!

This is a hard one, it could be that there is a leak somewhere and the pump is running to long, it could be the pipes for the seats, I doubt if the expensive pump is faulty.

Lock the car and listen to see how long the pump runs, it should cut in under 5 seconds. Sit in the car with the ignition on and listen to see if the pump runs every few mins

Thanks Television, but I can only currently lock the car manually as it has all failed again. Any other way to test this? Also out of interest, as the system has now failed with the boot not fully closed, is there any way of manually locking the boot into the fully shut position? So at least I can continue to use the roof etc.

The only other way is to put the car on STAR, this will tell you where the leak is, if the pump will nt run again and fuse 71 is good. the the pump has failed.
I have an almost new one for sale, but if the leak is not fixed the new one will go the same way

Thanks again Malcolm, I've booked it into my local indie tomorrow am. Think it makes sense to give her the STAR treatment and get a professional opinion! If it does turn out to be the pump, would be interested in yours. Perhaps you can pm or email me a suggested price?

It could be a faulty actuator element but never known this yet on a 230, the biggest known fault is where the pipe splits under one of the seats, for in your car the multi contour backrest is standard.

The pump is turned off by the CAN bus if it keeps clocking up a fault, normally it just turns off the faulty function like the output to the seats, Fuse 71 20amp must be good, what happens is when you remove the fuse it lets the faulty circuit run until the CAN turns it off again.

I will work out a price for my pump if you need iti it is pre programmed for a SL55amg

Anybody got an SL55 AMG PSE (pneumatic) pump for sale?
or...is there anywhere which can repair them?

Hello and welcome, yes I have one from a SL55 as new at £350.

I only kept it as a spare when I had the SL, but that is now sold

Hi
Thank you for the swift response.
Would that price be negotiable?
