My mother in law's 2003 Cclass door mirror glass looks as if it has liquid between the glass and the backing material, very odd, but how do you change the glass ?
many thanks

The fluid in the galss is very corrosive and will damage the paint if it leaks,,so take care with that,

To remove the glass the cover must be taken off,,just fold the mirror and press the catch through the hole in the outer edge of the end.

If you a how to please ask
They cost about £200

The liquid is there to provide the auto-dim function.

No after market that I'm aware of but you could try the breakers

hi all
i got the same problem, my off side wing mirror glass has 'gone', it too has the liquis/oil in it for the auto dipping. my local main stealer SG Cardiff would like me to hand over £330 for a replacement. mmmmm
the standard heated version which is only £55, i say 'only' because it is way cheaper than £330, has a differant electrical plug on it, or so i have been told by the chap SG Cardiff. he said it can be done but does not know how to do it.
Can anyone shine some light on this for me please.
thank you in advance.

The glass comes with spades as far as I know, 4 of them,,2 for the heated bit and 2 for the dimming..you just leave the heated pair taped up.

Worth looking here though

You must be having a bad day Malcolm, you leave the dimming terminals taped up, not the heated pair.

I did not say taped together,,quite a difference, plus the little black wires have insulation over the spades, so not easily joined together. Taping up is an expression to stop the wires from getting caught up somwhere

Actually on the 203 it has a 4 way plug. Only 2 connections are used on the non dimming type.

No need for tape etc.

Thanks to all of you .
so my best option is to go online, ie. ebay, etc and get a replacement mirror glass, connect up 2 out of 4 connectors and bingo it will work?
this sounds more like it.
spending £330 in not what i wanted to do.

thanks.

Well I have 9 mirrors in stock,,this one is a 208 and it uses wired spaded leads,,all of my stock has them.

Once again taped up is a normal expression

Mirrors with the plastic surround and yellow looking are the dimming ones
