Well done - I was kind of hoping it would end up at your shop, Alex and if it becomes a courtesy car that’ll really give it a new life!

It certainly wouldnt have made the journey home at least, at least, not without a spectacular diesel runaway. The amount of oil in the exhaust is very impressive

A new turbo us a fairly easy and cheap fix though!
Oil in the exhaust wouldn't be a problem - oil in the inlet in the other hand....

Lots of progress today. Cause of the smoking was failed turbo. Old one had an inch of play on the shaft! Turbo replaced and exhaust cleaned out, smoking is much better.

    Only issues remain now are:

NSR wheel speed not registereding, either sensor or ring
Water pump has sprung a rather large leak, so that needs to be replaced.

    Otherwise, seems quite good!

Excellent! Swap out the bonnet and it'll look a million times better too!

It definitely does need a bonnet.

The injector bolts have been bored out on 3 cylinders to m8's. Not ideal but they aren't leaking so I'm. Not touching them

    A further update:

Injector number 6 leaking, pulled it out to reseal, found a sawed off bolt and the other half left in the head.

All 6 injectors pulled, cleaned, rocker cover off, drilled and removed old bolts.

    Going back together tomorrow :oops::oops::shock::rolleyes:

Good to see you are giving the 211 another chapter Alex.

I couldn’t find anyone to repair the rot on my S210 rear wheel wells so took it on myself using airframe techniques as opposed to welding to do the repair with success, the car is still on the road in new ownership 3 years later, in all other respects the car was in very good repair and it would have been a shame to scrap it

Rivets? I did that on parts of my 210. Happy memories.

Car is back together now. Total parts bill:

    Water pump
1 x injector, clamp and bolt
    front SBC battery
    1 x Turbo charger
9 hours labour to fix the stripped injector bolts, do the turbo, etc etc

Pending faults - rear abs sensor intermittent (suspect rusty ring)
AC re-gassed (not that it needed it!)

    Now driving!!

Yes, still smokes, but not as bad as before. It would seem the injector seats have been cut 5mm+ so getting the injector height correct is going to be impossible.

If the exhaust is full of oil it may take a few miles to burn it all out.
