2004 E 320 CDi Glow Plug Light

Hi to all out there. Bought my first Merc just before Christmas & loving every minute of it. What took me so long to get one!

Anyway, when starting from cold, the glowplug light comes on, and once out the engine starts perfectly. I have noticed that the glowplug light comes back on very shortly afterwards & stays on for perhaps 10 to 20 seconds before going out again. Once out it remains out. Is this because of the really cold spell we're having, or is something wrong?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

one or more of your glow plugs have failed and need replacing.

Thanks for the reply Ellsy. Is there anyway of checking which glow plug(s) have gone, or is it a garage job? Also, can you replace individual glow plugs or is it all 6?
Finally..........roughly how much do these cost & are the easy to fit yourself?

unless you are conversant with a multimeter, take to a garage,

dependant on which engine and age , mileage etc etc, also entirely your decision to replace the faulty glow plug/s or all of them. but you can replace them singularly,

pretty easy to fit, but have had many a glowplug thread buggered on the mercs, best take it to a garage really.
