2005 c200 Sport whining

Hello All,

My 2005 c200 Sport Edition is new to me. In fact it's my first Benz and I love the driving experience. I've noticed the engine whining in concert with RPMs. Seems pretty loud. Any idea why? Is this normal?

Take off serpentine belt and see if noise goes away. If so, you have a path to follow.
