I changed the transmission fluid and filter at my first C maintenance alert. I used the properATF fluid and the dealer OEM filter. After that, the car stopped shifting easily. As long as I ease into the shifting, it shifts without issue. When cold, the car will let me go to maybe 2500 rpm before shifting, but not after warming up. No fluid leakage at the transmission harness connection. It's been almost a year and we're going to go on a road trip and my wife won't go with this happening. Please help...

If it's a 7 speed and you fill though the drain plug it is critical that you have the right fluid level.

Need to use a spirit level across the pan to make sure level in all directions then need to ensure oil is warmed up to right temperature before checking level.

It's 5 speed transmission. I have just a little bit too much fluid now, but it did this at proper fluid level too. I have the dipstick and read the transmission after it warms up for information about fluid level

Which atf did you use ?
Did you check the atf with the dipstick when the gearbox was hot (20min drive) , with the engine running , gearbox in Park on a level surface ?

I checked with the transmission fluid level when it was hot, engine running, on a level surface with the gear in park.

As it started after you serviced it, it points to whatever you did. It may be a coincidental red herring.
Is it possible for you to unplug the electrical connector, clean the pins and plug it back in without much inconvenience?
By the way, what is the mileage?

202000 miles. I'll unplug, clean if necessary, and plug back in the wire harness connector

Merry Christmas y'all. I checked the electrical connection and it had a little fluid in it so I replaced it. Sucked out 4 quarts of Pentosin atf and replaced with 4 qts of MB ATF. Drove it a half hour or so and got it to temperature at 80C after running through all the gears and driving on the interstate. Fluid level is good using the dip stick. It still bucks and jerks near 2000 rpm or time to shift. It won't go over 71 mph without bucking and cutting out still.

Did you open TCU, and checked no oil in there?

Yes, the torque converter has 202,000 miles. Made the trip. Still bucks at 2,100 rpm when hot, but set the cruise and we got there and back, no other issues, definitely no fast driving awards...
