would it be silly to assume that any car fitted with the new thermatic control is automatically a facelift car ? and in turn does not have SBC

Every thing points to mid 06 with the start of the new engine,,but you do need some identifying features so you can pick them out as the older model will still have been sol long after this date and the reregistration date is of no help.

I can check on things like lamps and grills later

Well worth having, I thought it was standard on the CLS

The standard sprung car is nice to drive. Airmatic is reliable, and the springs on CLS are reliable too.

with mercedes history up untill 67k miles which was in dec 2010, i take it there can be two years between servicing ?
