Hi all

Would anyone have any info on rusty rear doors on a 2006 A200 w169

I have read that it was a common problem for a few years. I have also been informed about the 30 year warranty but some have said the warranty was a 3 year paint and 5 year good will warranty. Im not sure where I stand now and would like to find out before I start asking any further at the garage. The two rear doors seem to be rusting from within the seams on the lower part of the doors. I will try and attach some pics. Any advice would be greatful.

Thanks in advance

The 30 year warranty is only for perforation, explicitly a hole appearing in a body panel that started on the inside and worked its way to the outside of the panel. Rust in seams is not included in the 30 year warranty.
As the car is over 8 years old I suspect you are on your own, I doubt Mercedes will entertain any claim from you.

Hi and welcome :)

I don't have rear doors, but do have enough rust in my two door seals to cover half a dozen ...

Yes, it's a known issue - the "wobbly" weld seal is defective - however Mercedes won't do anything anymore about it - I tried almost three years ago, when I bought my A200 coupé, and despite very low mileage, and full MB service history, they rejected the official request.

Two options really - replacement doors from a facelift model, with a smooth seal; or repair by a competent bodyshop.
I'm going for the former, hopefully this Spring sometimes - if I can find the right doors - plenty of 5-door facelift cars at the breakers though, so you should be okay.
